I have the clang as well..... If I ease out theclutch to roll to the end of the driveway, I will CLAAAANG when I pull the clutch back in. Sounds tinny, Almost as though a wrench was dropped on the front fender.

After thinking a minute...perhaps you meant 1 3/16ths?
In either case, that's still not accurate.
1 3/16ths is the clutch sprocket nut.
1 1/2 is the compensator.
They changed compensators in 2007...it no longer has the 1 1/2 inch nut.........it is a bolt Part # 3368 and is described as 9/16-1/2 X 3 grade 8. It has a 13/16 head.
There is a service bulletin M-1205 that gives a new tightening torque procedure for the 2007 touring models.....the service manual says tighten to 155-165 ft.lbs....the bulletin says to do it this way.....tighten to 100 ft. lbs. backoff 360 degrees and retighten to 140 ft.lbs.

The 07 and 08's can make a clatter noise in the primary when first taking off while in the friction zone of the clutch. +1 on twincam's post, the nut changed

Thanks guys. I have a slight leak I mean slight, under the primary beside the drain. I will take it to the dealer for warranty and have them check it all at the same time.
I was on a ride for a fallen comrade and played a little, pulled the front wheel off the ground. That afternoon when the bike was cold is when I noticed it. It has only done it twice, the bike was cold both times in about 300 miles. Yes I always allow the engine to build oil pressure before taking off.
I will ride my other bike until I can get it to the dealer. I have a great dealer so I sould have no problems getting it took care of.
I really like this bike.
Again thanks
jim
