...whether or not anyone has experienced the rumoured slow throttle response....
No.
Most rumors started by those who dont have an 08.
Go figure.

Code:
For normal riding and getting out and going I don't feel any difference, but when down shifting and coming to a stoplight I always used to blip my throttle before letting out the clutch with each gear going down....I notice the blip is just a hair slower to come on my 08 Ultra.
Definately! Most noticeable when down shifting & running sustained rev gear changing. It's a weird feeling & one that's really alien to those of us used to riding for many years.

I get the opinion that freer breathing motors & 'tweaked' EFI's don't suffer it, so it may simply be a tuning issue, but I'm getting cheesed off doing Harley's frickin' R&D and paying extra for the 'privelidge'..

When I was last in with Jamie at fuel moto, we got to talking about FBW throttle response and he stated that the system is programmed to notgo to 100% throttle below 3250 rpm. he didn't elaborate further on what the ramp up was, but I'll bet that is what most feel as a sluggish throttle. -- Tom

It was designed to limit full throttle below 2000 rpm to stop the lugging in the higher gears which produced scissoring of flywheels and such.
calibration 32935-08D for 96" engines will clean it up abit

'08 RK, I heard about it when I bought it, but seriously, I didn't really notice it. I thought it responded as quick, maybe even quicker than some of my past rides. Now, comin' off a non-HD bike from some street rocket might make a lot of difference, but it probably would be the same no matter what for them, after all it's a Harley, not a street screamer. I can tell you this, the response is the best I've ever had on any bike now that it's Stage I. The strangest part for me is being able to roll the grip forward at idle, now that's kinda weird. That said, it took me a while to get over that, about 10 miles, it's all good now and there is no looking back.

I went from an '07 to an '08 this year and I don't notice any difference in throttle response. If some of these complaints are real and not imaginary, I think they're isolated to those individual bikes. It's not a universal problem.

I thought NO throttle was "normal", but I guessI have a problem with my 08 with 1500 miles
Besides the check engine light coming on some days and
cruise control not working on some days
Just yesterday,I down shifted to go around a turn then rolled the throttle on:
nothing happened, no matter whatI tried,I downshifted again and finally got a throttle respone
Another time we were going along and came into traffic so I slowed down, downshifted, and when I rolled the throttle on nothing happened.
I have gotten pretty good with it when it happens by just shifting again

I have had the bike a month and been back to the dealer EVERY weekend

This is my first Harley, soI thought this is part of the "normal" stuff.

No, it's not normal and keep after the dealer to figure it out and fix it.

It seems like a dangerous scenario to me.

For what it's worth, my '08 has been flawless to this point.
