Default Lowering RK

After riding my new RK I find it would be a better fit if it was about an inch lower. I am considering the HD lowering kit, I want to lower both front and back. My question is is this a DIY job or is it fairly complex requiring some specialty tools. I have fairly good mechanical ability.

Thanks for your input..

Have you thought about getting a lower seat or getting yours modified so you sit lower, then you wouldn't have to change the bike mechanically. www.meancitycycles.com

I just put Progressive 412s onthe rear of my RK lowering it one inch, cost $300. You'll need a socket wrench set, bluethread locker, torque wrench, alift for the bike and a low profile jack to hold the rear tire in place when removing the old shocks and then to raise the tire one inch toreinstall the bolts. I haven't done the front yet but I've been told it's more complicated and a little more expensive.

Check the suspension section as there have been several write ups on how to accomplish the task at hand.

I installed the Shorter air shock on mine,I heard about the lowering kit but after looking at the result, the bags rubbing againts the shocks because the kit moves the shock away from the cavity in the bag. I elected to install the short air shocks instead. The DVD "Ride Like A Pro" recommends taking your seat and have a shop shave some foam off to lower the thickness of the seat.
