I recently upgraded my thundermax autotuner to the latest firmware. Also changed the decel to try and deal with decel popping. Right after the change, within 2 miles of leaving the garage, I lost my tach and speedo and the battery/check engine lights came on. When I turned the bike off and then back on, all was well and no problem for over 200 miles and two weeks later when same thing happened. Again, bike off and back on and all is well. Any ideas?
I've made the same firmware upgrade and screwed with the decel popping but not had the problem you describe. It will occasionally not start since the upgrade and I just shut off the ignition for a sec and turn it back on and then it's OK. Don't know for sure if it's related to
T Max but it never did it before.
Anyway, I know this is slightly off your question but how did you make out with the decel popping? Mine was still popping and farting like crazy after the upgrade, even between shifts, and I was getting pretty iritated by it but then I changed the lower limit (where it restores fuel) from default down to about 1700 and it helped alot. Also cut the post fuel enrichment from 16 down to about 8. It's not gone but much better.
Thanks Guys. Thundr, it did help with most of the decel popping. I do not think problem is electrical, as I did not change anything electrical, and it did not do it until I changed the firmware.
I don't think its the firmware update because I had the exact same thing happem to me on the way home from work the other morning. Look down and have check engine light, no tach, no speedo and the turn signal auto cancel was not working. Shut bike off turn back on no problem since. I'm running tmax on 06 rg.
Did you clear old stop settings and try reinstalling map. I had to do that to fix an idle problem. Had a shop do initial install (they did it wrong) and had to reload myself. Idle stayed high when I stopped and the 6th gear light wouldn't come on. Also, double check the map you have in. I was surprised on what that could affect. Bike rides sweet now throughout all rpm's and 6th gear light comes on when in 6th as it should...lol. Oh, and as for the decel popping, Harley in Santa Cruz told me it is just to be expected with TD's.I was told mine actually sounded better than most (especially one's with thunder headers). Sorry I couldn't help more. Keep us posted on what the fix is when you finally get the issue solved.
