I have an '08 EGC - Just DON'T use the KILL switch except to shutoff in an emergency. It will cause hard starting when the engine is warm; it may reset your idle rpm if you had some throttle rolled on when you hit the switch. Best FIX is dont use it except for safety reasons.

Yeah, alot of people do it that way. I never do. Ignition switch is all I ever use unless there is some reason why I don't have a free hand when shutting down, like when I am running the bike on a tilt trailer and holding the clutch and front brake at the same time.
I say do whatever works for you. I just don't see the need to use the kill switch most of the time.

This is really not the answer and I'll tell you why. It's been proven time and time again that in a panic/emergency situation, you'll instinctively do what you're used to doing. In this case, if you're in the habit of turning off your bike with the ignition switch, that's what you'll very likely attempt to do in an emergency. Taking your hand off the right grip to do this could be catastrophic. Also, using the kill switch on a fuel-injected bike has no effect on how the bike will start, hot or cold.
FWIW, in motor officer training and all MSF training courses, you are taught to use the kill switch to shut down your bike. If you're used to using the kill switch under normal circumstances, you'll automatically use it in an emergency.
