Guys, the good news is the 09 models do not have this problem. You soon will be able to buy the 09 fix and install it yourself. Its called the ITS (Isolated Throttle System). It will be available as a retrfit part for about $200. Available soon.....

Ditto the trolls... Some areattorneys doing a trolltotry to get someone to hit the bait so they can document for future lawsuits... some of the baits are even the same troll with another name to get a conversation going....Whatever....
I will be buying a new king next year and already had a hard time selling myself on fuel injection due to relying on the ODO instead of a petcock and I also thought the TBW idea wasn't too great either.I just simply trust mechanical over electrical and wanted to know a simple answer as to what is involved in changing the new bikes throttle linkage to conventional.I'll give you another example, I can't stand these little high revvinjap cars, give me a muscle car anyday!Whether someone can answer me on this or not I will surley find out for myself next March. Thanks
I was riding my 08 RKC last night. Never had a problem with high idle before. After about 20 minutes of riding I started up from a red light and in second gear the throttle got stuck open. No matter what I did with the grip, it remained high plus the bike wouldn't shift out of gear (up or down). Pulled the clutch in and pulled to the side of the road. Hit the kill switch and turned off the ignition. Started everything back up and no problems. I'll be calling the dealer to schedule the 1000 mile a little early.
I've had it happen on my new 08 Ultra. I did the 4 times thing on turning the ignition off and on and it worked. I am glad to know I need to let the bike idle down before shutting it off so that this doesn't happen as often. Thanks for the post. I guess Harley will have a recall when they eventually get a fix.
Wasnt the FBW what delayed some of the 08 releases? Why doesnt HD just fix the lower ends on these bikes instead of limiting throttle opening at certain throttle areas????????????Production numbers should be lower in09,might be able to do a timken setup and still make the numbers.
To all you know it all a** whipes out their, this is a real problem, My 08 streetglide has done this several times after I have started it up to move it out of the way at work and at home, just want to move the bike a hundred feet or so and shut it down, it has not warmed up andthe idle isat 2000 rpm, before I ride it again I have to reset the throttle postition, what a bunch of crap. It should not do this and should be fixed ASAP by the MOCO.
Yea I have enough experiance of riding to pull in the clutch if this happens on the road and enough sense not to ride it like this, but why should I have to go through the trouble of resetting my throttle once or twice a month.
