Default Windshield mounting question

I just bought a used HD windshield from E-Bay, I have a question on how to attach, The Road King Custom already has the studs, acorn nuts and the 2 rubber grooved spacers on either side of the fork. I can fit the windshield brackets slots into the grooves in the black rubbere grommets... but, I dont know what to do with the "hairpin" spring clips on the shield brackets
I assumed they are used to lock in, for the "quick detach" I can't see how to lock them in... help please!!??

they lock over the upper rubber gromits. Make sure they have enough tension and seat fully. If not remove them and bend tham so they have more tension at the points where they fasten on to the brackers.

It's all about the docking hardware.

If you've got the docking hardware installed, you are done. Just set the windshield bracket into the two bottom rubber mounts and push back, lining up the two upper grooves with the upper rubber mounts. The "spring clips" are a joke do not worry about them, they bend upward and stop working almost immediately.

Thanks.....
When I push the spring clips down into the grommets, I kind of feel them slide in but they spring right back out, wondering if I am doing something wrong!
what do the spring clips catch or clip between?
Is there supose to be a groove for them?

They don't really do much, other than to help you seat the shield by pulling back on the rings (although I mount my shield from the front. I hold the front brake lever, and push the shield into the rubber gromets). The clips will not lock the shield into place, and is not designed to. Heck, you can remove them, if ya want. All I did was to bend them in such a way as to not vibrate against the nachelle.
