Ok, here we go. I purchased a tour pack lid organizer, I know, waste of money, anyway, I tried to get it to stick with the stock tape. NO GO! I tried Heavy duty velcro. NO GO! I tried the new Lok Tite tape. NO GO! I have tried 3m double sticky tape. NO GO!
I am about to throw it in the trash. What in the hell will hold this thing to the lid short of some type of permanent cement or jb weld?
Does anyone have a solution or answer? Please help me.
i was in your shoes til this week. tried EVERYTHING!!! got pissed and got some GORILLA GLUE.
it works. be careful. wear gloves. protect all surfaces ya dont want glue on. glue a section at a time. you'll need ta find something heavy ta lean aginst the section to keep pressure on it. cures in a couple of hours.
Seems all the newer tour-packs and saddle bags are made of that black plastic crap so not much sticks to it. You need to rough it up a bit with some sand paper thenhit it with somealcohol wipes.
First relax; I had the same problem. Go to lowes and buy th perminent 3M tape (kind of thick looking about 3mm), I think it's called mailbox/outdoor tape. Once home, clean all the Junk tape off the back of the lid organizer/lid then take a cotten ball and isoprofal alcohol to clean it and let dry. Do the same to the lids (clean well). Place strips of the tapeon the back of the organizer and press well. Once stuck, then peel the cover strip and place it on your lid and press down everywhere you have the tape.DO NOT putanything in the organizer for 24 hrs to let cure. I did this to my lid organizers and they have held over a year now with about 10lbs of stuff(mag light, tools, maps ect.) in the pouches.I hope it works for you.
I saw a post on here regarding the same thing and someone had used the tour pac luggage rack as a way of holding the darn thing to the top. They were able to match the tourpac screw holes to the organizer, used a small washer, put the screw thru the washer, thru the organizer and back into the luggage rack.
Seems like that way...it will never come off. Using all the tape and glue stuff..in the long run, somethings gonna give. It gets hot in that tour pac and with all the rattling around and with stuff init hanging down...I just don't see how tape or glue would work.
Anyway..that'sa suggestion that someone had, and it seemed it had merit.
Thank you everyone for all of the constructive ideas. I will post what I find to work. I thought about seeing if the trunk inner lining comes out and riveting the darn thing to the liner. Havent looked to see if it comes out or not.
Thanks again and have a safe weekend.
Ride safe and don't forget to remember this weekend is in rememberance of our lost loved ones and Our Military that gave the ultimate sacrafice.

That's what I did. You didn't waste your money. I have the tour pac& lid organizer. I don't use them much just puttin' around, but when we went on vacation last week, they came in handy. Spare batteries for the MP3, bungy cords, sunglasses... You'll find something to put in them. It's money well spent, like that special tool you bought andyou'll only use once a year.
Man, that's a nightmare! I simply cleaned it real well with the alch pads, and it stuck... I let it sit for about 3 days before I put anything in it. Hope it works for you. They are really handy... I put the organizers in my saddlebags too...
