Well im glad im not the only one hearing this,I will ck the belt, but Im pretty sure I have heard it at a stop? for sure on decel after I pull in the clutch, but strangely,I hear it every time I cross the interstate bridge??? so maby it is something to do with the belt,it does sound like its the left side,I tried to take the baffle out to see if it was coming apart, but could'nt get it out, I read somewhere about someone manually locking a valve open,I cant find it again,is it possible for the auto compression release to cause this sound?
The interstate bridges have concrete walls that reflect the sound back at you. I occasionally hear it to when going over a bridge or enclosed area as well.
Check heat shields. I had this same noise on my V&H Pro Pipe, found heat shield from rear pipe rubbing shield on collector... Loosened them up and made a slight gap. No more noise.
I hear the same thing with my reinhart TD's. On a hard concrete road or going across a bridge. Sometimes I can hear it on asphalt if the wind is right. I noticed under the bag where the pipes are mounted that on one side the rubber bracket is all the way forward and hitting, and on the other side it is all the way back and hitting. Also when I fire the bike up and let it warm up it sounds like a bell ringing right behind the bike on the right side as I'm guessing that bracket hits and vibrates things back there. I tried adjusting things but didn't have any luck. Looks like it is one of those deals where you can change things in a million different places to get things adjusted right. I wasn't sure where to start. At first I too thought it was the belt but I really do think it is a mounting problem with the pipes, and something rubbing or hitting. I bought the bike used with the TD's allready installed. Wish I knew what to do to fix it.....the pipes sound great otherwise.
