IF you're going out local, don't bother with it. Get a real good pocket blade, like the Smith & Wesson folders. On the highway, DILLIGAF. I always carry mine on road trips. Good luck finding it. Could be anywhere on my person, no one will know but me. Course I'm from the south. Better to be tried by 12 than carried by 6. And you know the law. 10-20-life in Florida. Use a gun and you're done.

BTW, if you are LEO, you can probably get Cap-Stun. Way better than a gun, and always works. Then there's the blade. Or an ASP. Blackjacks. Heck, they even have polymer brass knuckles now. Or, you could get some metal studs put on your leathers and gloves, and just use the good old forearm smash. Chain Mail? Some ball bearings for that cager who is tailgating. Or jacks, like the kids used to play with.

What kind of bar are you partying in? You said you were in South FLorida. I gotta check this place out

If your not carrying it on you...leave it home. Your only asking for trouble IMO. I never leave my piece on my bike or in the car.

I'm not preaching, but here's my rules:

If I carry, it stays on me, hidden.

If I carry, I don't drink or go near a bar room. Period.

I have 27 years in Law Enforcement, if that matters.

Well - you better have that weapon under your direct control at - ALL - times or your fat a$$ will be in a heap of trouble. Think I'm bullshitting just see what happens, if it falls into the hands of the evil do'ers.

I can see the headlines now "ALL AMERICAN KID FINDS GUN ON DRUNK BIKERS BIKE....ACCIDENTLY SHOOTS AND KILLS ANOHTER ALL AMERICAN KID!...ALL AMERICAN FAMILY HIRES ALL AMERICAN ATTORNEY AND SUES DRUNK BIKER." No matter what the circumstances....The spin will be bad!

33yrs LEO experience tells me....guns and alcohol do not mix!....

I carry mine in the high side (right) saddlebag. It sits up against the front of the saddlebag. I glued a piece of leather onto the inside of the bag, and then glued a piece of velcro to that. The holster I have has an opposite piece of velcro on it so the holster will stay in place with the butt of the gun up for easy access. With a pair of gloves, bandana, etc. on top of it, no one knows it's there except you.

I would be happy to get you a picture if you would like to visualize what I'm talking about.

As far as leaving a gun in a locked saddlebag, glovebox, under the seat of a car, etc. and having it stolen and getting in trouble, I don't understand the issue. How is that different than being stolen in a burglary from your home? I would think that having a gun stolen from a secured vehicle would carry no more libility than having one stolen from your home.

As far as bars and firearms go, I think that guns and booze do not mix anymore than booze and riding, but I do go to bars sometimes to socialize, play pool, listen to bands, etc., and I haven't had a drink in 20 years. When I do go, I have a gun hidden in my locked saddlebag.

As far as going to the bar to drink and taking a car instead of the bike, I don't understand that either. DWI is DWI whether you are in a car on on a bike. The only thing is in the car you have a better chance of taking someone else out with you.

Regards,

Bill

I've been a cop for 18 years not counting my 4 yrs as Air Force MP. If I have my piece, its on me at all times. Gun does you no goog if its in the car/bike. Second, I never carry it if I'm going to bar. Nothing good can come of a shooting with alcohol in your system-lawyers would have a ball with that case.

I only carry a gun when I am on an extended trip away from home and then it is under the seat of the truck or near the bottom of my left saddle bag. I put it in the left one because that is usually the side I dismount to which therefore gives me fastest access to the left bag. I never carry it on my person (but do bring it into the motel or tent at night) while riding because I don't want to have the thing grinding into my flesh if I ever have to lay the bike down.
