I have wanted to get ghost flames painted on the ultra since I got it. What I want is the flames to be tinted with a different color pearl so the will be hardly noticeable against the glacier white pearl paint, till the light hits them. I want the pinstripes to stay, so the bike looks stock till you see the flames poppin out in the light.
I went to a local painter that came highly recommended by the indy I go to and he said wouldn’t do that. All he would do is paint the flames coming off the pinstripes. Now I realize he is a pro and I am not, but I think my idea would look good, what do you guys think???
Sometimes its good to go with the reccomendation of the painter. \\; If the painter is really good, and base their opinion on years of experience, they will know what will look good and what wont. \\; Ask around at a few other paint shops and see what they think. \\; In the end, I would listen to an expert.
 \\;
Just my opinion....

I do custom painting and find bassically you are limited to two things, 1) your imagination and 2) the depth of your pockets. But by all means get what YOU want on YOUR bike.
i went to a custom painter as well and asked him for his recommendations he basically told me that ghost flames would look good just as your idea \\; not sure if the white paint might be the problem as mine is the black pearl but he had no problem doing that job
bambam - i also ordered the white SG 2008 Pearl but haven seen any unique paint job or stripes done to the white base. Black seems easy to do and millions of choices out there, but i want to do something with the white pearl but havent found anything. Not even a google search for 3 weeks now has come up with something. hope someone can post a photo of a white Pearl with some graphic on it...
I think that with the white it would be very hard to get the flames to stay "ghosted" and be seen. \\; Your painted probally didn't want the job, so he got out of it. \\; I just ghosted a black bike, and I have done a blue bike with black ghost flames, but a white one would be tough, especially if your stripes are gold. \\; I would try and do \\; ghosted silver, you couldn't get enough pearl to show. \\; But if you washed out some silver paint with white it might pull off what you are looking for. \\; With the white gold that would really be tough but it would look pretty cool. \\; We do alot of the white gold with black contrast cut wheels. \\; Good luck.
