I want to upgrade my 02 ultra to the new 06 electronics. I understand that this may be possible with a new inerfaring, wiring harlness, and of course the new stereo sytem. Can somone enlighten me
A very interesting question - I will try to pm some folks so that they see this - Not sure anyone here has attempted it yet but it very well may be possible to do. May I ask you what the gain or the plus side would be for this upgrade? Are you only after the new radio? - kess
Last time I checked in upgrading my 02, I was told that the MOCO did not have a wiring harness to support the upgrade, however they were supposedly working on one.....that was several months ago, haven't heard anything lately. I am not sure that I would gain much by doing a complele upgrade anyway. I would be interested in your reasons for doing the upgrade! Thanks
There is a dealer in Sandusky Ohio called Roeders HD that is selling an conversion kit for the 06 radio to retro into an older bike. If you want the MOCO's GPS, XM etc, it may be worth considering. I have done "in lab" tests on Radiosounds radio (upto 2005) and the new HK radio for our development of speaker upgrades. HANDS DOWN the older radio sounds ALOT better!!!! Guys like me with 06's could do a major upgrade by converting to an older radio IMHO. I will say the HK speaker is a bunch better than the ones in the older bikes.
I have a good sum in my bike already and I have it just about how I want it to be. I would like the new stereo system, xm satellite, blue-tooth hands free phone and navigation systems.
Hey Pez....I have your speakers in my otherwise stock 02 EG.....happy with the sound....I may get an MP3 player to plug into it and I have a Quest II GPS to install as soon as I get the the HD mount....I think the only I would gain by upgrading is getting a cd player instead of a tape player....never have used the tape player...probably would not use the cd player, especially if I get the mp3 player.....YOUR SPEAKERS did the job for me!
I have both the GPS and the handlebar MP3 Player. The problem with the handlebar MP3 player and the GPS is that you can't operate both (hear both) at the same time. With a CD, you can at least listen to both at the same time. I put J&M speakers in my bike and I really like them.

Sounds like you would benefit from the upgrade Larry....I have never used a XM satellite or blue tooth hands free phone....so I guess I don't know what I am missing, or even if I would use them.....especailly the phone....when I'm on my bike....I want no calls!

UHM...thats interesting, however I am not sure I would pay much attention to the voice prompts from the GPS anyway...I don't know maybe I would or maybe I would have too!.....I just figured I could hear both if I needed to....always something! []
Sounds like you need to upgrade your GPS. The Lowrance iWAY 500C has a built in 10 GIG hd for your MP3's and it has a 10 gig HD for the street level maps that come preloaded in it. If you need more than 5000 songs to listen to you need more Continent to ride on! The GPS tracks your progress while sending the MP3's to the radio all on the same screen. Just a suggestion...
Have a well Upgraded 1,
Moose
