At first I thought there must be something wrong that it started in gear? \\; I've never owned a bike that did that.

I can deal with it fine but let's say the old lady goes out to clean the bike etc and turns on the key to listen to the radio and hits the start button on accident. \\; Not Good!

I think the earlier built 07s' can go either way. \\; I've worked on a few CVOs' that all started in gear. Personally my 5/07 SG does not start in gear with the clutch in or out. \\;

I think it's a great design. Ever stalled a bike at a light and had to find a \\;reluctant neutral to get a restart? On a HD just pull in the clutch and fire it up... much easier.

The clutch interlock was added for the '07 model year.

Mainly it's just one more FN thing to go haywire,
Simple is better IMHO,just learn how it works before you ride it.
