I have a question about my oil temperature. \\; Just Friday I had two things performed at the dealer ship so this may add to the unknown. \\; I had a dyno that was not completed due to software problems with the dyno, and I had a 15,000 mile service.  \\; \\;Now here are the specifics of my question, I had been riding for over an hour and had noticed no problem with the oil temperature, this is something that I glance at pretty regularly while riding.  \\; Glanced at my oil temp gauge and noticed it sitting on 260 \\; degrees, this is unusually hot for my bike. \\; Also noticed that the oil pressure had dropped to about 10 psi. \\; I had been cruising on the back roads at 60 MPH on an overcast day so no explanation for the high temps. \\; I lowered the bike into 5th gear and the oil pressure increased a little but not much. \\; Drove about 10 miles down the road and filled up with gas and let the bike cool for about 20 minutes. \\; Checked the oil level and was fine, no evidence that anything is amiss. When I started back up \\; the temp had dropped to about 210 and the pressure was up to 20 psi. \\; As I drove the engine gradually climbed back to 260 degrees and held steady for the next 35 minutes when I reached home. \\; I went through a short patch of heavy rain and the temp fell but gradually rose again when I got through it. \\; Could this be an improper timing problem, I’m just surprised that it took over an hour to show up if this was the cause. \\; I’ll have it back at the dealer Tuesday but it is bothering me until then.  \\;  \\; Thanks for any suggestions you may have.
So your oil pressure was at 10 PSI while you were riding? \\; Mine drops to maybe 8 when I'm idling, but hangs around 32 when I'm moving at speed. \\; Something is wrong.
Brings me to the question, where should the Oil Pressure be? \\; After running a few miles, it will idle around 8psi, but around 32psi when up to speed. \\; Guess this is normal as what Stro1965 wrote?

Mines a '08 Ultra.
 \\;
07 Ultra here, and around 8 psi when idling and 32 at cruising speed... so, I'd guess oil pump problem?

If it's idling at 8-10 and goes up around 32 at speed you're OK.
 \\;
you guys a re confusing pressure and temp!!! oil at idle is about 8 and straight up when riding if at a decent speed.based on that very uncalibrated oil pressure stock gauge
I have had the bike returned and the problem is now gone. \\; I was told it was a combination of F/A mixture being off and timing. \\; As I said originally the tune was not complete when I picked it up.
