Just came back From our first long road trip together on our 28th anniversary. Five days and 1162 miles.
We got a Nelson Rigg luggage carrier. We each packed one pair of jeans, socks and underware. Took rain gear. Took tool bag-—which I didn’t have to get into once :-). Didn’t take any oil\\; I wanted to but didn’t. Didn’t need it.
Helmets, tire repair kit (in case), camera, cell phones, Bull Frog 36 spf-—Tan but no burn.
That’s it. We did laundry each night we stopped and that’s how we got by with just minimal clothing.
Can’t see the need for much else. My wife appreciated the “pack light philosophy” and left a ton of beauty care products at home. She looked great on the bike without all that stuff :-).
Have a good and safe trip.

We like to roll our clothes.&nbsp\\; You can get a lot more in a smaller space, and they wrinkle less with being rolled.&nbsp\\; We actually roll one days entire set into rolls.&nbsp\\; That way, you just grab a roll on the way to the shower, and you have everything.&nbsp\\; You don't have to unpack to grab socks, underware, shirt, pants, etc.&nbsp\\; Just one easy roll.&nbsp\\; Then roll up the dirty clothes, and put em in a plastic bag.&nbsp\\; Works good for us.&nbsp\\; Takes a little practice to get good at it, but you'll do fine.&nbsp\\; Enjoy.

I always start a day or two before. Pack everything you think you need to make sure it will all fit. Then if it don't you have time to decide what to leave behind. I always end up buying a t-shirt or two along the way and plan on wearing them. I sometimes bring a small bottle of laundry soap and wash in sinks.

The rolling is the ticket, roll up a day of clothes and it takes way less room and now you have alot of room and a day outfit ready to go.&nbsp\\; Don't take all the BS items for the wife hair dryer etc just relax take the clothes you need and the hygeni items toothpaste, brush, deoterant and ride on.&nbsp\\; Always a laundry mat or walmart somewhere if you need something and some hotels have irons and hair dryers etc for the wife.

I don't pack her stuff, my stuff, (I have the HD saddlebag liners) I pack heavy items first and on the bottom equally distibuting the weight in the saddlebags and ending up with all the lighter weight items on top. Nothing more dangerous than a top heavy ride. Take your old underwear and toss it as you use it.&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;[sm=biker.gif]

one other thing to remember is to pack how you use.&nbsp\\; Another words rain gear if you use it should be in a quick and easy place to get to on the road.
