Ok so i've had a few bikes but i have been blessed with never having to repair one do to any type of crash, just the normal mods that a guy does. Here's the full story. Bike was parked in my driveway, neighbors van jumped out of park, rolled across the back alley and straight into my bike. Hit it a a very slight angle on the front wheel, drove it backwards a foot or so and fell over. Steering was locked on bike. Damage so far front fender pushed into tire, kick stand tab was snapped, highway peg bent in, scratched but can be simply re adjusted. A few scrapes on the crash bars, eng &\\; bags.

What i am worried about do you think there would be any damage to the steering from the impact. Got the kickstand repaired, so i could take it for a ride, had the bike up to 60MPH with no obvious signs but i am still worried about the front end. What should i be looking for or check.
Not to excited to take it to the local steeler as lack of confidence is high with them. Next steeler is 300 miles away.

The guy felt bad, says he will pay for whatever is needed allready gave me a grand. I can price out what i see that needs to be replaced but still worried about the front end. What do you guys think or suggest.
I would go through the proper channels. Insurance , police report, whatever you are supposed to do to make sur you dont get F#$&\\;*Ed and have to regret what you did.
I have to agree jcbpa, being from the collision industry most people look at the point of impact when damage is accessed. Even though it was a low speed accident (thankfully no one was hurt) energy travels from the point of impact through the whole bike. The only way to find out if there is more damage further back in the bike is to have measurements taken by a qualified technician and compare them to factory specs. The other thing to consider is the tranny, was anything damaged when it was pushed. I hope for your sake it's only cosmetic but I think you should have it gone over throuoghly to make sure you are safe.
It's a lot harder to go back after the fact and convince an insurance co or your neighbor that this was caused by an accident that happened months earlier.
Gotta agree with jharanin: \\; engine alignment, steering head/ bearings, wheel run out etc. \\; Take it to another shop even if its a metric shop (if you must).
take it to a frame shop and have it checked make sure its sound

when my bike was tipped over but it caused $2800.00 in damage and it was just
 \\;
cosmetic so check the mechanics of the bike steering head bearings good luck
