Default getting the crud off....

i have a question, it seems as if my boot may have rubbed up against my lower exhaust pipe down by the foot rests on the right side of my street glide. It left a mess. What is a safe way to clean this off?

I've used 0000 steel wool and chrome polish.&nbsp\\; Keep the steel wool wet and gently go back and forth over the spot (s).&nbsp\\; I read about this in the forum. I talked with a couple folks at our local repair places and they told me the same thing.&nbsp\\; I've used it a few times on my bike and the wife's.

I have also read that Easy-Off oven cleaner does the trick as well.&nbsp\\; Spray the pipes when they are cool, leave overnight, rinse off in the morning with a garden hose.&nbsp\\; I read this tip on this board and in several magazines.&nbsp\\;

Make sure you protect your bike from overspray.&nbsp\\;

Road Rub!!!&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\; Very easy to use and can be kept easily in a saddlebag.

Acetone will do the trick.

Use a penny to scrape it off.&nbsp\\; Penny is softer than chrome and won't scratch.&nbsp\\; I tried it and it works great.

Use Easy Off oven cleaner, however, spray it on the spot while the pipe is HOT. Let it sit for a few minutes until it turns to a dry power, then wipe it off with a WET towel. Works every time. Then when bike is cool, you can polish back up again.
