I have 2-inch baffles in my Rush slip-ons. It is certainly louder than stock, but I can hardly hear myself amongst the pack I ride with on Wednesday nights. Heck, even my 72-year-old mother described the sound as sweet.
I, too, have experience more tail-end-of-deer jumping the fence as I approach than I did when stock. Even the other day, here in the little community surrounding a lake, as I was putting along I saw a man with a push-mower (powered) and he looked up to see what was coming. It is not terribly loud, overall, but it has such a deep sound that it penetrates. I routinely set off car alarms with the bike. But like I said, it is not nearly as loud as most other Harleys I encounter.
There really is something to the loud pipes save lives statement, even if it really does not include folks in cages.
The City of Milwaukee just passed a new noise ordinance in the last week or so.. with one exception.. Harley-Davidson Motorcycles were exempted..how cool is that!!
Love the loud factor! \\; And wether or not is saves you, well you may never know, but \\;I do know that my Reinharts are working so far... they get attention and might get even more if I decide to change out the baffels... Just my .02.... \\;
