I just had my bike reflashed for high-idle problems. H-D said they had a fix. Didn\\;t work. It went into high idle twice within 200 miles. THis is unacceptable. No fix at the end of the model year. How long will it take. I will be contacting them tomorrow. My Ride is less than one month old.&nbsp\\; IT has been going into a high idle ramdomly since day one.

 

If your bike is moving at all when you shut it off it will idle high.

 

But this is a normal occurance on a motorcycle? This is my 27 mtorocycle over 39 years. Nothing like this before. No matter how it happens. It should not.

 

pull the main fuse and let the bike set for 3 minutes, this will reset the ecm.&nbsp\\; be sure to let the engine idle all the down prior to shutting down.&nbsp\\; mine did the same thing for the first week until i was trained to check idle prior to shutting down.&nbsp\\; i have not had a problem since

 

Maybe with 27 bikes your just hard to please? Whats so hard about letting it idle down before killing it?

 

Point being that you shouldn't have to be so particular when shutting down a bike to prevent high idle conditions.&nbsp\\; This is a flaw in the programming and HD knows about it.&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\; Next thing you know they will be telling you to rollit backwards two feet before shutting down to reset the idle

The more they include in the ECM, the touchier the programming becomes.&nbsp\\; It is too bad that the MoCo uses the public as their test bed for new options, in this case, the fly by wire.

I love my HD and would ride nothing but, but this type of problem, along withthe fuel filter problems on the 08s are really giving them a bad rap.

 

Maybe just maybe he shuts down to&nbsp\\; ROLL up the driveway late at night&nbsp\\; so he doesn't annoy the neighbors, OR wake his wife, OR maybe he's fussy and expects his ride to idle properly, when its suppose to, OR&nbsp\\; OR,&nbsp\\; Point being,&nbsp\\; WHATS wrong with wanting a&nbsp\\; BIKE TO perform as it should, ????

 

Weren't we bitching about the 07's last yr? Your right they shouldn't do it but I'm sure a fix is near. Now the fuel filter is a different thing. It could get you killed. The idle is just a pain but nothing to get pissed about. Just let it idle down.&nbsp\\;

 

I never would have noticed the problem (if I had an 08) because I always let the engine settle for a moment before shutting it off. In every vehicle.

I have never understood why some people would blip the throttle just before shutting down. Anyone know what the rationale is (was)?
