Thats my story and I am sticking to it. Do you really think I would make such statements if I did not know what I was talking about. Now please, you may be able to fool some people about military pay but not allof us.And please keep in mind that most all americans appereciate what you are doing. But also keep in mind that you volunteered knowing full well the benefits etc and you joined. Also keep in mind that depending on rank and experience to include education that you may be doing a lot better than your civilian counterpart. Besides, when your enlistment or tour of duty ends you can opt out and find out about how much you think the rest of us have it made. Our military is the single most important entity in America. It is the only thing standing between us and the rest of the world taking complete control. While I salute you and applaud your efforts, whining does not become any military member regardless of sex, rank or branch of service.
...got to back up MACK on this one...spent 8 years in the Marines...77-81 active...and 90-94 reserve with 1 of those years active duty for Desert Storm...in the 70's the pay DID SUCK....but when I rehitched in 90 to fight Rag-heads...uncle Sam paid me the following..
1. My mortgage payment
2. My base-pay
3. A bonus amount for "high-cost-region"(New-England)
4. Extra pay for the kids
 \\; \\; \\; \\; \\; \\;&n bsp\\; \\; They paid FRIGGIN GOOD!..factor in free housing/medical/food...and it equaled a $75,000 a year salary in civilian terms....
Fact is the military DOES pay good...you have to factor in all the bennies not just base pay..anyone saying otherwise don't know jack...

It is easy to say that Military members are underpaid . It is also easy to say that military members deserve a discount.Just explain why. Why should a buisnessman discount his product because you are a military member? Whatever your reason, should every other merchant also discount their product because you are a military member? You have access to the Overseas Military Sales Program if you are stationed in an overseas theatre. They have a great propaganda program that tells teh military member they are providing them a discount. If you believe that ,just get their pricing and compare it to a ststeside dealership with all factors being the same. It is very little if any and their discount is a couple of hundred dollars based on your agreeing to buying an extended warranty. Now the OSMS people exist solely to support the military overseas.Sometimes you can get a good deal on a slow moving model or at year end close out or on a bike that someone else has ordered for stateside delivery and backed out of the deal and OSMS has already directed shipment to a ststeside dealer.I hope some of this helps and I also hope that military members understand taht I am not trying to demean service to our country. It is an honorable profession. But just by being in it does not automatically give you a deserving right to a discount from a civilian buisnessman. Discounts come from the PX/BX,Commissary AAFES ,medical people on base ect.Housing allowances, combat pay, family separation pay ,free room and board sometimes and clothing allowances all combine to figure into a pretty good pay plan.Just consider this. If Bill gates and I walked into a Harley dealership to buy an Ultra Classic for example. Do you think they would sell it to me for less because I make less and am worth less than Bill Gates? Do I deserve a discount because I have less than Bill Gates? I think when you can honestly answer those questions you will see my point of view. In the meantime,WHOAAAH!
A dealership may give you a 10% discount on a "T" shirt but not because you ae in the military.Do you think when the dealer orders his shirts from Wentzville he is able to say "include a 10% discounnt on my order for say 10 % of my shirts because about 10% of my customers are military and they deserve a discount? You must be kidding. You may check the sale items and get a lot more than 10%. But on items that sell, be they motorcycles,"T" shirts, jackets, service work or whatever, forget it. It will not happen. Now there may be some dealers out there who are x-military themselves or for whatever reasons believe as you do and if I knew any I would tell you but I do not. But I am sure that out of the roughly 688 dealers in America that at least some offer a military discount and I wish you well on finding them. In the meantime continue to march, lean forward in the foxhole and thank you very much for your service to our country.
Business is Business I guess. \\; \\; Show up on free hot dog day and buy your shirt during their 20% off sale. \\; \\;Eat twice as many hot dogs on that day. \\; I think I paid for that party when I bought my bike. \\; I haven't eaten any of the hot dogs yet
