Default New Front Motor Mount installed-16207-79D

Coming home from Laconia I noticed quite a bit more vibration in my floorboards then normal.&nbsp\\; Several days later I checked the front motor mount and sure enough it was split on the bottom.&nbsp\\; I went to the local HD Dealer as I have an extended warranty.&nbsp\\; They had no motor mounts in stock (seems they&nbsp\\; never have parts in stock, except chorme stuff).&nbsp\\; I made an appointment for the following week.&nbsp\\; I called the day before my appointment and was told the motor mounts were on back order until 7/11.&nbsp\\; Ok, only a week to wait.&nbsp\\; I was still riding, but very conservatively..&nbsp\\; A few days later the vibration became much worse and I found the entire bottom of the mount was gone, except for a small section.&nbsp\\; I started calling other dealers and no one had a motor mount.&nbsp\\; I was told Harley is changing the design (16207-79D).&nbsp\\; One dealer&nbsp\\; told me they wouldn't be shipped until August.&nbsp\\; The last dealer I called said he had two in stock.&nbsp\\; This dealership is 20 miles away from the one I usually deal with and is owned by the same person.&nbsp\\; Yeah, right, why didn't the service guy at my dealer call him in the first place.....&nbsp\\; He said I had to get my dealer to call him and fax him paper work to ship the part up to him.&nbsp\\; I called my parts guy and service guy and they were not interested in doing anything.&nbsp\\; I finally called the General Manager and explained the situation.&nbsp\\; He called me back in 5 minutes and said he'll have the part in the morning.&nbsp\\; I called next morning and he had the mount.&nbsp\\; He told me bring the bike down now and they would fit me in.&nbsp\\; Next day the bike was ready.&nbsp\\; Live and learn.&nbsp\\; Next time I'll check right away myself.&nbsp\\;
&nbsp\\;
I assume the original mount was a -79C. My EGC was an early 06 production.&nbsp\\; The service bulletin I saw about the change from -079B to -079C was dated Dec 05.&nbsp\\; Oh&nbsp\\; yeah, 22,000 miles when it let go.&nbsp\\;Hopefully the new,"improved"&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\;-079D will last longer. After all it is made in China...&lt\\;groan&gt\\;
&nbsp\\;
I quickly got over the aggrevation of the ordeal because the bike runs smoother than it ever did.
&nbsp\\;
Enjoy the summer guys!

Bob, I've heard about these new motor mounts. Are they the Buell part that replaces the old H-D part?&nbsp\\; I have 22K on my '07\\; just wondering when I can expect to make the "upgrade."&nbsp\\; Glad to hear the new part runs smoother.&nbsp\\; Something to look forward to, I guess.

My 1999 parts manual lists the part as a -79B - when I enter that on Chicago H-D it cross references to 16207-79D AND Buell part L0501.2.&nbsp\\; the HD and the BUELL motor mount are the same part now.&nbsp\\;

Thanks Weavr, I thought so.&nbsp\\; I just degreased my motor during the 20K service.&nbsp\\; The motor mount was covered in grease, from sloppy oil changes.&nbsp\\; When cleaned-up, the rubber puck looked fine, and no vibrations, as far as I can tell.&nbsp\\; BTW, Pig Spit makes dirty motors look brand new.
