Coming home from Laconia I noticed quite a bit more vibration in my floorboards then normal. \\; Several days later I checked the front motor mount and sure enough it was split on the bottom. \\; I went to the local HD Dealer as I have an extended warranty. \\; They had no motor mounts in stock (seems they \\; never have parts in stock, except chorme stuff). \\; I made an appointment for the following week. \\; I called the day before my appointment and was told the motor mounts were on back order until 7/11. \\; Ok, only a week to wait. \\; I was still riding, but very conservatively.. \\; A few days later the vibration became much worse and I found the entire bottom of the mount was gone, except for a small section. \\; I started calling other dealers and no one had a motor mount. \\; I was told Harley is changing the design (16207-79D). \\; One dealer \\; told me they wouldn't be shipped until August. \\; The last dealer I called said he had two in stock. \\; This dealership is 20 miles away from the one I usually deal with and is owned by the same person. \\; Yeah, right, why didn't the service guy at my dealer call him in the first place..... \\; He said I had to get my dealer to call him and fax him paper work to ship the part up to him. \\; I called my parts guy and service guy and they were not interested in doing anything. \\; I finally called the General Manager and explained the situation. \\; He called me back in 5 minutes and said he'll have the part in the morning. \\; I called next morning and he had the mount. \\; He told me bring the bike down now and they would fit me in. \\; Next day the bike was ready. \\; Live and learn. \\; Next time I'll check right away myself. \\;
 \\;
I assume the original mount was a -79C. My EGC was an early 06 production. \\; The service bulletin I saw about the change from -079B to -079C was dated Dec 05. \\; Oh \\; yeah, 22,000 miles when it let go. \\;Hopefully the new,"improved" \\; \\;-079D will last longer. After all it is made in China...<\\;groan>\\;
 \\;
I quickly got over the aggrevation of the ordeal because the bike runs smoother than it ever did.
 \\;
Enjoy the summer guys!

Bob, I've heard about these new motor mounts. Are they the Buell part that replaces the old H-D part? \\; I have 22K on my '07\\; just wondering when I can expect to make the "upgrade." \\; Glad to hear the new part runs smoother. \\; Something to look forward to, I guess.

My 1999 parts manual lists the part as a -79B - when I enter that on Chicago H-D it cross references to 16207-79D AND Buell part L0501.2. \\; the HD and the BUELL motor mount are the same part now. \\;
Thanks Weavr, I thought so. \\; I just degreased my motor during the 20K service. \\; The motor mount was covered in grease, from sloppy oil changes. \\; When cleaned-up, the rubber puck looked fine, and no vibrations, as far as I can tell. \\; BTW, Pig Spit makes dirty motors look brand new.
