On long runs of 500 miles or more I never stop. I have a vast network of friends, so wherever I am I call one and have them meet me on the road with a can of gas. I can fuel up going down the road and never have to stop. Occasionally I will have them bring me a bologna sammich also.

I stop every couple of hours.&nbsp\\; During the summer months, staying hydrated (with water) is very important.&nbsp\\; If I know of a long trip (&gt\\; 1000 miles), I'll try to do at least 65% of it the first day....leave early.&nbsp\\; By the second day, the mind and body are not at peak performance and the risk grows.&nbsp\\; The first goal is to arrive safe and not be stressed over the time taken.

I base it more on time riding than miles traveled due to different speed limits, road conditions, etc.&nbsp\\; Usually stop every 1.5-2 hours.

Rode 852 miles on the last day of trip a couple weeks ago. Stopped every 1 to 2 hours to stretch, drink water and get gas. Never could ride that far on my 2001 GoldWing.

You need gas at 120-150 so your on the money.&nbsp\\; Always good to stretch the legs, hydrate you and bike and hit it again. Ride safe.
