Default 3rd Tour Pack Latch Failure

I have experienced 3 latch failures. Two failures of the front latch to stay latched and now the threads on the rear latch stripped out. This is on an 07 Ultra. Any ideas? I have verified the tour pack mounts are tight and in good condition.

Check to see that the machine screw is long enough on your rear latch. I replaced one on my rear latch with a slightly longer one and all is well. I used a 6-32 x 3/4 and added an extra washer to handle the extra length.

The tour pak latch is our second biggest seller second only to the jiffy stand spring that flies off when going over a curb.

Wow, I've had no problems with mine in over 20K miles and 17 months.&nbsp\\; Are your latches in a bind or anything?&nbsp\\; They could be still under warranty if less than 24 months old.

I am still under warranty for 18 more days. I called the dealer and will take it in Friday morning. I just returned from a two week trip with the tour pack loaded with no problems two weeks ago. Then yesterday when I get to work the rear latch falls off in my hand and the spacer is gone, and the front latch is out of whack and wont stay latched. I pulled the liner last night and checked to make sure all the tour pack mounting bolts were secure and inspected the rack and found nothing loose or cracked.

I agree, keep it locked. It keeps the strain off of the latches.

Default latches

I was tooling around with two flags clipped on the rear of the trunk. I know that it threw alignment out and put pressure on the latches. Well, I'm going on my third set of latches, but the flags are only attributable to ruining one set. Think I'll fly my flags on the lowers.
But in truth the latches are china made garbage. I realize this thread is pretty old, but that's my two cents. I'm online shopping for an alternative to the crap latch.

Riteway (or others),

Do you happen to have a part # for the Heavy Duty latches? I'm having a hard time just findin' OEM replacements and would love to find better ones. I'm locking mine out of necessity now, but I'd prefer to have functional latches...

Thanks,
