Default @#!@%$ Ignition Switch

I'm trying to do some work on the fairing on my 2002 'Glide Classic, which requires total disassembly. I've got everything apart EXCEPT for the small plastic panel that surrounds the ignition switch. I need to remove the switch "****" from the ignition switch/lock, so I can slide the plastic panel off. I have almost completely disassembled the switch, found and removed the little allen screw under the little aluminum decorative panel, mashed on the little spring-loaded tab under the ****, twisted, turned, shoved, lit candles, burned incense, EVERYTHING, and I CAN'T get the **** off. I know I'm a complete doofus and must be missing something obvious, but the dremel's coming out soon and I'm gonna just cut the damn panel off!

Does anybody know the secret spell to get that @#^!*# **** off??????? Any help would be extremely appreciated and will save the life on an innocent trim panel.

Well you found the release button so maybe this will help:

To remove the ignition switch ****, insert the Ignition Switch key and turn to the UNLOCK position. Leaving the key installed, rotate the **** to ACCESS. Depressing the release button at bottom (left side) with a small screwdriver, push key down and turn an additional 60 degrees in a counter-clockwise direction. Lift and remove ****.

THANKS, guys, got it with your help. Normally, I'd search the crap of a forum before asking questions, but I'd spent all day with this thing (get mad, drink beer, repeat!) and I was really gonna just cut it off (the trim panel, that is).

Anyway, thanks again, and I'm impressed with the speed and accuracy of replies. I think I'm gonna like this place.

One addition that is critical and time saving, you rotate the key back left 60 degrees after depressing the release button..., NOT the ****.... You'll be there for hours otherwise...
