Definitely a safety enhancement but if I found a bike with everything I wanted, right color, etc. but it didn't have the ABS, it would not be a deal breaker for me.

Yes, its worth it. Had it on my Goldwing and it not only made braking safer, but made the sell of my bike much easier and brought back the money it cost extra.
