I think I can find what the ambient temp is by tuning into the WX weather band thats comes stock on the radio, or tune into WINS News on the AM (here in NYC). That ambient gauge is on its way out.....I bought the oil temp gauge kit a few months ago. So the oil temp gauge goes in and ambient temp gauge comes out. I also need to install the new JBL speakers I bought.....and I want to check my fairing brackets.
I remember a thread a while back that discussed this same issue but someone in the thread posted a way to rerun the gauge sensor in the fairing,(under the fairing?), to get a more accurate reading.
any body have an idea why i need to know the ambient tempature (gauge on the dash) on my streetglide..........
season your words well, one day you may have to eat them \\; =)
Its psychological, if you look at the outside air temp it takes your mind off your burning leg and man berrys from the exhaust pipes!

Does this ring a bell with anyone?
Just said that a while earlier in this thread. Unclip the sensor inside the fairing... route the wires down to the bottom of fairing... just let it hang next to the grease fitting for the steering. You can zip tie the wire, loosely, to the wire that goes down to the front fender. I did this over a year ago... the temp gauge works pretty darn good now.
Do I need it? No. Do I really care about the temp? No. However, drove me crazy seeing it reading 20 degrees off all the time, and I have no need for a compass. By the way, the compass isn't affected by speaker magnets... its sending unit is by the rear tire.
I replaced mine before my Ultra left the stealership with the Oil Temp gauge. I understand the MOCO has received a good amount of complaints over the years, regarding the usefulness of this gauge, just shows us what they think of us.
I replaced mine before my Ultra left the stealership with the Oil Temp gauge.
I asked to have one installed when I picked my new 08 up. They said, "will have to order one." A few weeks later had it installed. Got home and noticed a few days later that it was krooked and the white back light showed around the edges. Was back at the dealer a few weeks later and asked them to fix it. Said, "have to order another new gauge", first one is defective. Wonder why they put it in to begin with? Have begun to wonder if I should have just left the useless air temp gauge in.........the story continues.
