Default Vance & Hines Fuel Pak

I was on the phone w/ JPCYCLES and i was going to order the DynoJet power commander and hooker slip ons for my 06' rk standard EFI....... they suggested I purchase the Vance and Hines fuel pak instead.... they said its much easier to use/hookup.... but in the product description it says that exhausts other than V&H will require custom mapping --- how difficult will it be to map the hooker slip ons?

i'm looking for good quality sound... not necessarily anything too loud - so maybe i should just order the VH slipons?

Thanks,
Garrison

I got the PCIII USB from Eastern Performance for $269.99 (no shipping or tax). If you aren't going to use V&H pipes, or think you might switch to non-V&H, I would stick with the PC. I looked at the Fuel Pak and they didn't have a map for my setup, or any setup I was interested in. I just got the PC on Monday, programming it via my laptop was a 10 second process (as they already had a map to match my setup).

I think this is the site:

http://www.fuelmotousa.com/

I believe PipeDADDY got his from there and had good reviews of his experience. Go with the PCIIIusb!

I second the PCIIIusb....

I am one person who started off with the V&H FuelPak (running the V&H slip-ons and true duals) and still ended up going with the PC.

FreedmRider...

Back when I bought the bike I was a complete newbie and didn't know any better. I bought the exhaust from the dealer the day I took delivery of the bike. The parts guy was great but never mentioned any other options - just what they had in stock. So I left there with my bike....the exhaust parts, SE air cleaner, etc. in my buddy's truck. I installed everything that afternoon. I was informed to not use the cruise until after the 500 mile break-in so I didn't. The first time I used the cruise it didn't work. It was due to the FuelPak. To make a long story short I had to jump through a bunch of hoops to get the right unit - it was the error of V&H and there was an updated model.

Basically I felt I was still missing something even with the FuelPak. I didn't like the fact that the setting for the FuelPak were "unknown". I had no idea what was being set. I also didn't like the idea that you were basically stuck with using the V&H exhaust systems. I know, I was using their exhaust but you never know when a change will come around. I did like the fact that the PC allowed you to tweak the settings, there were many MAPs available, it could be customed dyno'd, etc.

The FuelPak did it's job but I wanted a little more in regards to the customization abilities of the PCIII.

The PCIII can now also be ordered from Eastern preprogramed based on the mods on your bike...

FWIW: I'm installing the FuelPak w/ true duals and Oval slip-ons tomorrow. No further engine mods and the Fuelpak worked great on my dearly departed '05 Road King.
