I too just used HOG towing 2 weeks ago. Great service for being a sunday. Local harley shop ***holes wouldn't come out and they were less then 10 miles from my location. Hog sent a contracted towing company. Bottomline Hog service is great, i'll never go to MIKE's Famous in Delaware again. Ride Safe!
Best $20 I've ever spent. I had a major blowout on 1-80 last year between SF and Sacramento. The flat bed tow would have cost $450 to Sacramento HD. I just signed my name. Great service. It took only about 45 minutes for the tow truck to come.
Web forums, regardless of subject, always attract the unhappy. Ignore 'em. What do you have to lose? $20, right?
Do they upgrade your membership instantly? I am riding to the 105th in 2 weeks and want the upgrade.
Good question. Try calling road america phone number on the back of your hog membership card, or go their web page for the number and ask. I would guess that as soon as they get your $20.00 it should be active but you never know. Let us know when if you find out.
Speaking of insurance companies and towing, I was with Progressive and just got my renewal and it went up so I thought what the heck, I'll call HD and get a quote from their insurance companies (they quote from about 4 companies) they got me a policy from Foremost for $110.00 less that included $500.00 more coverage on chrome parts/accessories, towing and trip interuption coverage that I didn't have on my Progressive policy. If you are looking for policy renewals you might want to call HD for a quote.
Over the 4th of July my wife had a flat up on the Blue Ridge Parkway near the via duct. Called up HOG and they had a tow truck there in around a hour which I thought was very fast. $100 was covered by HOG but she only had the minimum coverage and that was her only tow for this year so we will probably upgrade both memberships just in case we ever need it again.
No you all have me dabating over upgrading my HOG roadside assistance and dropping it from my progressive insurance!! I've never had to use either so I don't know which is best.
