Default Installed Rush 1.75" Slip Ons

Last night after work I installed the Rush slip ons with the 1.75" baffles. Sound is pretty darn good wiith a good low rumble and not too loud. I kind of cringed when I started the bike but was pleasantly surprised that the sound was actually more muffled that the stockers. I think I can live with them but may buy the 1.5" baffles for even lower level of noise. I rode last night without my earplugs, which I usually wear, and the sound was not too harsh. Didn't do anything (air/fuel) else to the bike, a 2008 Electra Glide Standard that I've owned for about 2 months, bought new. The HD dealer's service department where I bought the pipes said that nothing needed to be done with air/fuel because the stock system can adjust to these pipes up to about 80% of WOT, but that if you ran full WOT you get into a range(open loop, I think he said) where the bike can't adjust and you might be running on the lean side at that point. So, they should be good for most cruising. I wanted to get Reinharts for their sound but the service guy said that those baffles are too large and you run the risk of running lean under a wider range of running if you don't do fuel mods. I wanted to stay away from the fuel mods because the bike stock has enough power for me and the best MPG I've been able to get is just under 42 mpg. I thought if I start playing with fuel and air I would be in the mid 30's mpg-wise. I do get a slight popping on decel with this setup, but not a lot and not loud. I'll watch the plugs. Chrome quality is good and they are priced reasonably. I paid $379 + tax at the HD dealer who had them in stock. The parts guy said they sell a lot of these, that's why they stock them. This particular dealer has a good reputation in our area and the service guy sure sounded like he new what he was talking about. I can recommed these pipes.

I have a set of Rush 15305-175 slip-ons and I agree, they're great pipes! Great sound, great fit and finish and a great company that stands behind them. You can't go wrong with the Rush pipes. (BTW, I get 47-48 MPG on my 2004 Ultra with the Stage One kit on it.)

Yep, i like my Rush slip-ons also. I went with the 2" baffles
and heavy duty breather....
The deep low tone growl sure is pleasing to the ears....not
worried about waking up neighbors, as I live out in the country.

I too just put the 2" Rush on, removing the Pythons I had on there. Wanted to try a different sound and very pleased. I'll be putting the Pythons up for sale on the appropriate "for sale" forum here shortly (any takers? shoot me a PM).

I put the 2-1/4" black Rush pipes on the GF's '08 Nightster. Now those pipes rock on that bike (looks and sound)!!

You've got a good dealer's service department, it sounds like!

I bought the 2" Rush slip-ons from my dealer at my 1000 mile service last year. Didn't get a chance to hear them beforehand. Just wanted anything other than the stock mufflers. When I took the bike out for a ride after putting them on I thought "What the hell have I done?" But I asked everybody and anybody if they thought they were too loud and always got a quick and decisive "No."

Now, after another 15,000 miles I couldn't be happier with them.

I had a little bit of muted popping on decel with mine too. Not bothersome at all though. But after a couple thousand miles I didn't like some aspects of what I perceived the tune was doing, and my mileage was on a slight downward trend from the day I put them on.

I went ahead and got a Power Commander to use for the mean time, and went ahead with the K&N airbox as well. My mileage is right around 37 for my usual mix of riding. When on the road for a whole tank-full I get 42 or so.

Oh, and since the initial time I was worried about them being too loud I've been riding on Wednesday nights with a local group. I can't hardly even hear myself amid the pack. When I'm alone on the road they are extremely pleasant. And my neighbors tell me "I didn't even hear you come in" when I apologize for getting home sometimes after midnight. But I do get folks making eye contact with me when I come near, and that's a great thing.

I decided to go with VH big shot after having the rush 2" baffle slip ons for the first 1000 miles of my 08 SG life. They were great slip ons that sounded really good but I wanted to go black. I have the Rush currently listed on ebay. Pm me if you want a link.

If you want quieter yet get a meaningful boost in performance, consider these:

Link to Fuel Moto Custom Baffles

Check out the dyno charts, which reveal 8TQ and 4HP increase over the 1.75" baffles with a properly mapped PCIII. This link shows the mufflers with baffles installed, but the baffles can be purchased separately for $100. They use a high-tech packing material that not only lasts longer (lifetime warranty) but is quieter than the Rush material.

I wanted to stay away from the fuel mods because the bike stock has enough power for me and the best MPG I've been able to get is just under 42 mpg. I thought if I start playing with fuel and air I would be in the mid 30's mpg-wise.
Not if you play with it right. I'm getting 40-50mpg depending on conditions with the PCIII, open AC, and Rush/Fuel Moto mufflers. I confess I've also done some tweaking of the map to increase mileage without affecting performance.

I paid $379 + tax at the HD dealer who had them in stock. The parts guy said they sell a lot of these, that's why they stock them.
For those of you looking for Rush mufflers, consider the Fuel Moto Jackpot mufflers with the custom baffles. They have the same design, fit the same baffles, are double-walled in front to resist bluing, and cost only $299 (Link to Fuel Moto Jackpots).

I have the Rush with these baffles installed, but if I had to do it again I would go with the Jackpots. If anyone wants to see the dyno charts for both 1.75" and the custom baffles, just drop me an email. No, I'm not on Fuel Moto's payroll, but am enthusiastic about their work and customer support.
