Did he buy the parts there or pay to have them installed there?? If not it is a liability issue. If the dealer puts them on, even though they would have to put the same stock parts on anyway, they are making themselves responsible for the parts. If they are damaged during install or if they fall off going down the road. It is all about covering their own *****.
if the side cover comes on new engine then yes he should pay the labor to swap it
whitch it meens the tech. changes in twice, im sure the engine core would have too be intact
My 08 EGC has been back to the dealer 3 times. The first time the ECM lost it's program. This last time (approx. 5 weeks) was due to crank sensor, cam broken, rear fuel injector sticking open requiring new rings and a ECM. Dealer claims MOCO could not help them in trouble shooting the problem. Tomorrow morning I will be picking it up from the dealer. I will be truly amazed if I make it 60+ miles home without a breakdown. The bike has 1132 miles on it. I'm really "PO-ed".
That is the option I told them if they are going to charge I would do it for him but it is BS as it is a defective part that needs to be replaced, bike only had 5000 miles on it and it not even a year old they should cover all cost to make it right.
Nah...they are covering the motor...all the extra stuff should be up to him, not the dealer.
Good luck.

I'd agree with you if it was being replaced because of something he did. Obviously the dealer shouldn't have to suck up the labor time since they didn't manufacture the engine, but IMHO HD corporate should be responsible for putting the bike back in the condition he had it by covering the dealer labor costs. The guy who owns the bike wasn't at fault, the dealer wasn't at fault that only leaves one party at fault; HD.
I have not heard of such a " flywheel recall" ....
they have the same part# as the 2007 & 2009 models.
Are you sure there is not some confusion? because it sounds like a individual warranty claim to me not a recall.
