Default SG ignition lock question

This is my first injected bike. On my RK, you had the option of locking the forks, or just locking the ignition. I assumed it would be the same on my SG. When I put my key in, I can push down the switch and lock the forks by turning it to the "Lock" position. I can't just lock the ignition though? I thought there was a problem, so when I was at the dealer on Saturday a tech came out..he said it's a new thing this year on the SGs that you have to lock the fork, you can't just lock the ignition any longer, you have to do both. I thought this was very strange. I asked a guy at work who has an 06 RK Custom, and he said he can lock just his ignition...was the tech right, is this only the case for SGs??

You have to lock the forks also, or so it has seemed to me. Coming from a Dyna Wide Glide, it was an adjustment for me too.

Thanks for the replies. I thought the tech was just blowin smoke..it didn't seem logical to me...good to know I don't have a problem w/the lock though.

Some times an improvement in a new model is just that, an improvement and sometimes it is a just a hassle. I don't know if this new lock system is a good or bad thing...... Time will Tell.......hdman
