The cable on my CPS got damaged during the 30K service last year. Bike would run OK for a while, then it would miss briefly, like one cylinder wasn't firing for 5 to 10 seconds, then straighten up and run fine again. It finally died as I pulled into a parking lot. Let it sit for a while and it started and ran OK. Finally discovered the problem and had the dealer fix it.

Only going to speak for my Sportster here but assume most should work the same way but regardless here were my symptoms ... Crank right up cold no problem Ride into town everything still fine ... after it's warmed up stop at a light ... and would start misfiring with rough idle ... would have to rev it several times to pull away from a dead stop like it was not getting fuel and the engine light would flash or even stay on... on a right or left turn from a stop would be extremely rough trying to get it to roll and sometimes even quit ... yet if let it go back to idle no probs was only on acceleration up or down when engine was totally warmed up did this be a problem retuned the carb replaced the Ignition Module No Change ... when changed the CPS AKA CPK Problem solved Been Running perfect since....
