Thanks all for the helpfull information. For the last 2k I have been running it about 2000-2200 RPM. I'll keep it at 2500 or so in the future and hope I did not hurt anything by running it at 2000.

Thanks again

After I've installed the XIED's, K&N filter and true Dual on my 07 RKC it feels like I can rev it much higher in between gears nothing really radical just to rev it up. Just your normal get through the light and proceed down the road. As far as, the 6th gear I rarely am on that gear and if I want to I wait until 70+ before I shift to it. The engine lags a great deal if I am going any slower than 70. One thing I notice if I ride 5th a lot 55-65mph range I get better mileage 50+ on highway keeping it below the 70 and mid 40's in and around town riding 4th up to 50mph and anything higher I am in 5th.

Not tryin to rock the boat but your dealer is a DICK. Shift at 2k? your bike needs to run above 2k. For it to run smooth if i ride mine at 2k it is just luggin along

Flat roads I run 2000 / 6th all day long. Of course I'm well aware of the engine and if need be I downshift to pass.

With the exception of just loafing, shift and cruise it in the 2500-3000 range. It will be much better for the drivetrain. Resist that low rpm crap thinking your doing the engine a favour and it will last longer. These engines really love 3k to run at.

07 FLHTCU 31,000 miles, Pro pipe, Fuel pak and K&N. Seems it doesnt like 6th gear below 70 mph except maybe on flat or going downhill. The engine is happy above 3000 rpm going down the road.

Which is about 2000 RPM. The dealer said that the manual was wrong and I should not even go into 6th untill I hit 75-80 MPH. Is this right?? Not any speed limits that fast around here.

What speeds is the correct speeds to shift at for fuel economy and still not lug the engine?

Thanks.
I think of sixth gear as "overdrive" and only use it at highway speeds. Shift points are personal, shift where you want. The higher you go the more gas you spend.
