Hi all ! my first post here , here go's, i ride a 01 nighttrain with a stage 1 kit se pipes ac & down load. I'm happy with the power of this bike, what I'm planning is getting a 09 bagger so the wife and i can be a little more comfortable .I'm worried about the heavier bike being a little down on power,so do you think a stage one kit for the bigger motor will keep the bagger as spunky as my nighttrain ? Will the bagger need the 103" kit to keep our fun factor up ? Yes my wife enjoys it when i crank it up now and again
on long trips the added wieght will seem meaningless with the added comfort. nothing like the bat wing and lowers in the cold rain.and if u got deep pockets a bagger with the front end in the air...........!
actually the softail has the balances motor which actually robs some power and tourqe if you look on HD website it is like 5 ftlbs less tourqe. i have a RK stage one, a/f and rhinehart s/o's and my buddy has a stock night train and i whoop it up on him so i think ride it first then look for mods.
Torque is the key. Bagger has more from the factory but it is heavier. If you can turn a wrench for about $400 you put in a set of cams and greatly improve the power.
