I'm a wimp did 965 in three days... butt feels fine and I'm ready to ride again. Seems like 300 a day is doable for me.

Personal best is 987 miles, 16.5 hours Corvallis, OR to Las Vegas. Did it on my Road King, Corbin solo seat.

I did the SS1000 and will do the BB1500 this Fall. Did you read the guidance that the IBA provides to help riders prepare for their rides? Also there are many stories and lessons learned that have been submitted by riders. They provide a lot of information about what works and what doesn't. Good luck with your ride.

And just a few days earlier it was almost 850, but more relaxing, even running through Hell's Canyon.

My personal best runs at about 1050 miles. Started out in Platte City (just outside of Kansas City), making it to Billings, MT 18 hours later.

Did a SS1000 in Summer '06 that was purely a certification ride. It was going great and we were well under the 24 hour mark and only 100 or so miles left when we hit a severe traffic jam on I-20 near the AL/GA line at about 1:00 a.m. I used my the strobe light in the headlamp of my '04 police model EG to get us (four other participating bikes/riders) to the shoulder of the road and proceed about 1/4 mile to get off the Interstate to some local roads to bypass the stoppage and get back on I-20.

Have since done three certified IBA rides (two SS1000 and BB1500) while going to and from Sturgis--excellent motivation to cover a lot of miles quickly when vacation time is short.

All have been easily accomplished on Touring bikes and interstates.

Did a Saddle Sore 1,000 miles in 2004 on an Suzuki SV1000S.

Did a Butt Burner 1,500 miles in 2006 on an Suzuki SV1000S with my son who rode a Yamaha R6 in 29 hours.

Both rides, started at 3:00 am....rode till we got to the end, stopped for gas, pee and chow.

Butt was fine but wrists and neck were a killer on a crotch rocket. The secret is a quick stop, no screwing about, then hauling again. Stop every 150 miles for gas, stretch, pee, water, snack and roll again.

Biggest pain was waiting for the IBA to certify the ride. Took a year...so I'm not doing that again as I have the sticker X 2.

I did a BunBurner Gold, 1500 miles in 24 hours, from MD to FL and back. Also did a SaddleSore 1000 in about 16 hours from MD to KY and back.

Story on my site.

I once rode 1,117 miles in one day. At the time, I had never heard of the SaddleSore 1000. And even if I did I wouldn't sign up. I ride for my own satisfaction, not some organization that gives you a tee shirt, patch or certificate for meeting their criteria. Just seems it would take away from the ride.
