yes they are

 

When I left Surgis I drove 820 to Milwaukee and the Harley museum. I was ready to go farther, but I wanted to see the museum, so I stopped. I could have easily continued for over a thousand. The roads out west make it real doable. (Is that a word?)

 

I have done 1 per year since 2001 coming home from Sturgis to Dallas. 1200 miles in about 22 hours. In 2002 I even did it coming and going.

Mostly we do it out of necessity because of the heat coming back to texas.

Key is to keep moving, stay hydrated and make sure your bike is up to the task.

 

In 2002 10 of us rode from Raleigh, NC to just outside Birmingham, AL and back. It was a fun ride.
