Wife wanted softail instead of Road King,or Street Glide,She said the touring models were for old people,I told her we are old (47) and I didn't need a bike to pick up women because she a sure thing. I got the RKC and love it,12000 miles this year, now she almost wishes we went with the ultra, after riding with another couple with one did figure she be living on the back.
You're in luck... kinda September 13 is national demo day.... should be a few dealers near you, one or more will be participating. Call around and get on the list. I'l partial to the RG, but the Eg family is nice too.
Worse case, ask your local dealership if you can rent one for a week end, with the rental going towards the downpayment of a new one
'09's have so many improvments, it's not worth dealing for a left over '08 (IMHO)
6'3" 280 , I have a road glide, can ride all day long , you can also buy a new tall boy seat which sits you back a inch or two further . very comfortable ride .
I have been riding a soft-tail for the last 10 yrs., bought a SG and I would sure hate to go back to the FatBoy. Its a whole different world. You will not regret it.
I just traded my 07 Deluxe last week on a Street Glide. I can ride the SG all day and not be worn out. It is more stable has a radio,ABS,Cruise. First touring bike and will always have one. I still like cool looking bikes that are for around town.
