Default Fairing Problem

I was riding yesterday and noticed that the windshield had tilted back towards me. I stopped and realized that the three metal inserts had pulled out of the fairing. The inserts are the ones that the three torx screws that hold the windshield in place are screwed into. I use a taller than stock windshield and I'm sure that it puts way more pressure on these inserts at 75 mph.

Has anyone else had this problem? I'm thinking of using some epoxy glue to hold the inserts in place. Any ideas would be appreciated. The warranty expired last month on my 07 ultra.

You are right on track.....epoxy them in. Mine are holding so far. If you change you shield often, each time you tighten them the inserts are pulled a little. A really good 2-part epoxy has held mine so far and I change shields for spring/summer/fall. Good luck!

Here's the part number for the threaded inserts ....16585-06....these just screw into the fairing to replace the one that's pulled out. Couple of bucks at the dealer.

If you use epoxy just put a little on the outside threads then screw it in
the fairing. If you put it in the fairing first it will push to the inside threads
and then you will be screwed.

Thanks for the information! I called around and the third dealer I talked to had them in stock. Easy fix! The part number is 16585-96 for anyone else that needs them. Again the members on this forum have saved me time and $$$.
