So which are better? I want a set of lowers for my SG and can't decide which to go with. Anybody used both? Any advantages to either? To me it looks like the chopps are a little taller which might mean better wind coverage and less buffeting, but they are also a little further forward, which might mean less rain protection and a little cooler, but also more foot room and peg options.
By the time you add the gloveboxes if you want them to the HogChops they will be about the same price as the HD ones ordered from a 20% off dealer. Depends on which look you prefer. I looked at both and am probably ordering the HD ones for this winter.
Add the Gloveboxes then your 2 to 3 hundred higher again I was ready to buy them for my road glide the looks had grown on me and I had heard that he was going to make gloveboxes that would accept the Hogg Tunes lowers speaker kit for the Road Glides which I have sitting on the shelf but the last e-mail I got from him he wasn't sure he was going to do it, SO I'm back to square one and looking at have to mod my RG glove boxes to use the speaker kit. why the Hell did harley make the odd shaped doors for the RG's, wake up harley!!!!!!!!!!!
You can have aftermarket lowers including the glove box and no vents $469.00 Or you can have HD lowers and vents for $493.00 if you order from one of the discount dealers. If it were my money I'd go with the HD lowers. Just my $.02 Also with the HD lowers you can add the locking glove box door if you'd like.
Like bald1der mentioned, if you can find the HD's at a discount, they are close to the same price. Retail, they are 200 more, both with glove boxes. My problem is that I can't find a HD dealer in the US that will ship to Canada. If I go to my local dealer, the best price I can get on the HD unit's are $750, and it will be Christmas before I get them.
So when I look at that the hoggchopps are a fair bit cheaper, though i may not get them any earlier, last I talked to them they had a bit of a wait.

I'm also looking to get lowers for my RG. I could use some advice.
I know that the RG lowers DO NOT come with glove boxes. Seems strange since the other HD lowers include them.
I also want to get the Hogtunes speakers for the lowers since I already have the Hogtunes amp and rear speakers. Are you saying that the Hogtunes lower speakers won't fit in the RG glove boxes with a mod?
Lake Shore HD http://www.lshd1.com/servlet/StoreFront has the lowers for $499.96 and the glove boxes are $128 each for a total of $755.96 with FREE shipping.
