Hello everyone.
New to forum and new to Harleys-- just picked up a used 2007 ultra classic.
What i need help with is the neck bearings are loose....where do i start with the removal of the fairing to inspect and tighten the bearings.
3 windshield screws, 2 screws on the inner fairing on the outer edge on the wide part of the wing, 2 near the fork area. Ease the windshield out. Outer fairing will come right off.
To remove the front outer fairing only takes a few minutes. Like was mentioned above there are the windshield screws across the top and 4 screws on the inter-fairing side. Remove the windshield, then the four screws on the inter-side and then remove the outer fairing. you will need to protect your front fender and you will need to un-plug your headlight before you can totally remove it.
The inter-fairing I have not messed with yet, only the outer.
And I have been told that while you are in there check to see it there are broken brackets. Mine were o.k.
And one more thing, those screws do not require much tourque only 25 to30 INCH pounds. Again INCH Pounds not Ft. pounds.

Guys, I've got a bit of a strange question (somewhat) related to this post. When you remove the front fairing (and rear for that matter), is the widest part of the bike the handlebars at that point?
I ask because I'd love to park this bike in my basement for the winter, but the door is only about 32 inches wide. I wonder if removing the fairing would make it easier to get the bike into the basement - I believe the full width of the fairing is about 40 1/2 inches... I think the handlebars are less wide.
no need to remove inner fasiring. remaove radio and neck will be visible
How do you remove the radio from the outside of the fairing? I am not trying to be a smart a$$, just wondering how you would do this.
oops! I just re-read what you said and you are right you do not need to remove the inner fairing.
Sorry!
