A couple guys talked earlier about adding a HP performance baffle. With these being megaphone style, seems they would rattle as there is nothing to support the other end. Any comments from those that have?
I have them on my '05 RK. Absolutely love them. Back when I got them I called CFR and Carey Faas answered. Great guy with a ton of answers. That may be the main reason I bought them to begin with. Since they've gotten more popular I'm not sure that he still answers the phone.
I got em on my 09 SG with V&H dresser duals and PCV. Love em. Deep rumble during idle and real nice deep bark when cracking the throttle. Wouldn't swap them for any other brand.

I read about 4 pages recently on people that had chrome issues with bubbling and flaking on the tips and rusting welds. There were a couple of people that sent them back and the replacements were rusting and flaking as well. For the guys that are still buying these over priced, hard to tune mufflers, did they ever get a set that did not have problems?
I just put on some Jim Nasi Custom CFRs(he has a slash up tip he adds that matches my extended bags) on my 07 Ultra/Street Glide. I have V&H Dresser Duals, a Thundermax Auto Tune and 525 Cams and the bike runs great. The mufflers have an awesome deep sound but were just too loud for me, so I added the HP baffles and now they are perfect. The mufflers are built very well, the chrome looks great. I will see how they hold up but I think they will be just fine.
The chrome situation with these CFR pipes is from pipes that were chromed in Arizona where CFR is located. CFR's are now sent to California for chroming. I have a set on my bike (they were on it when I bought it) that have zero chrome issues.
Thus, if you are going to buy these I'd recommend that you ensure that the set you order has not been sitting in stock somewhere for a long period of time. The only other down side is the lead time but we hope to be cutting down on that in the near future as we will be ordering quite a few sets. But, this is till a bit off as the quoted lead time was 12 weeks or something like that. With a lead time so long I never count my chickens until I have the product in my hands.
The sound of these pipes is very deep. I am very happy with them. They are not obnoxious at idle although they do have a nice tone. Would I buy them of my own accord? Absolutely.
They need to be combined with some sort of true dual header in order to get the full benefit as with any pipe.
I have had mine for a couple years now. Bought them used. No chroming issues and I was able to tune them myself. They are the new style. Best sounding pipe on the market IMO. I agree about using them on true duals. I have the V&H and its a great combo
