Need some assistance here. Assuming that the pics load correctly, the first is a shot of the passenger foot board on the primary side. In order to get the derby cover off i need to remove the bolt that hold the foot board in place. Problem is, the exhaust appears to be interefering (at least with the tools i have). This is an 01 FLHRC/I. Any thoughts?
Also, the second shot is of the rider floor board braces that also must be removed (rear brace). It appears to be tied into the jiffy stand (at least one bolt), if i remove that bolt will it be fine on the jiffy or do i need to get a lift? I will have lift toward the end of the week, but figured i would try to get started by removing everything if possible. I do have a manual and it says to do all this, but obviously doesn't explain EXACTLY how to remove things nor should it..........hope i have explained things relatively well! Thanks in advance!
Get a good motorcycle lift. It will used for many situations with your bike. The lift will hold the motorcycle in a steady position when strapped down. No worries about it falling over if done right.
Just my guess, but it looks like you will have to remove that pipe to get to the bolt.
Is there enough room if just the passenger board is removed (not the mount for the board). If yes, remove the rubber in the passenger board and you can remove the push pins (using a hammer and punch) to remove board from mount. Be sure to watch for ball and spring which mount between board/mount. The ball likes to roll away upon removal :-( . Good luck!!!
1 foto . im assuming you are removing the entire outer primary. if you anglr the allen socket with an extension you can remaove the bolt with out removing the exhaust cover. for the 2 foto you can remove the bolt to release the braket then reinstall the bolt for support. and yes get the lift

Had the same issue and used the socket and extension with the allen - that sucker was tight, by the way. Haven't gotten the lift yet but it's on the list!

Just curious, are your pipes stock or true duals? If stock, they shouldn't interfere with the passenger bolt removal but TD's, Rinehart to be specific can interfere with the bolt.
If you are just removing the derby cover, removing the rider footboard assembly is unnecessary. But if you must, note that the 2 bolts securing the rear bracket are accessed from underneath the scoot. The top bolt passes thru the bracket and is fastened with a nylock nut. The bottom bolt threads into the bracket itself.
Just went out and looked at my 07 with stock headers. His exhaust does appear closer to the passenger board plate than mine. I can easily reach the bolt with an allen socket and extension. Mine must be loosened and swiveled out of the way to reach the derby screw on the right.
