Is there a special tool needed to take out the torx bolt, on the derby cover, that is located just behind the rear passenger floor board? The bolt is right behing the rear floor board bracket, to take the floor board off I need to remove the exhaust first. There has to be a simple way to do this, the stealer can't possibly take off the exhaust, then the floorboard, just to remove the derby cover. Can they?

I also fill through the inspection cover. But, when I need to do a clutch adjustment I used to have to take the floorboard off....now I have floorboard spacers so it is accessible
like you probably noticed, if you have an '07, it doesn not have an inspection cover, since the chain is self adjusting. if in fact you do have an 07 you still need to remove the derby cover, by first removing the bolt holding the passenger board so that you can get the last bolt off from the cover.
Thanks guys, what I am hearing is to remove the derby cover, I do need to remove the floor board. But if worse comes to worse, I can still fill the primary thru the inspection cover.
I added BUB dresser dual header system, and the pipe goes right over the floor board bolt, so to remove the floorboard I will have to take the rear head pipe off. Not sure why ist is so close to the frame like that, but.
How long are the screws? I just founda torx tip (1' for mag driver) that should fit in the spot, along with an adjustable wrench, are the screws longer than 1"?

They seemed to be less than an inch on my '05 rk custom. I didn't meaure, but I would say more in the neighborhood of 3/4". Just make sure the torx is a T-27, NOT a T-25
Papa,
Thanks, I actually took off the derby cover last night, pretty easy. Got a 4 pack of torx 27 bits at the hardware store for $3, ground one down until it was about 1/2", and held it with a pair of vice grips. Pretty easy, and no need to remove the floor board. Only problem, had to torque by hand, wrench wouldn't fit6.
Thanks all.

I have an 06 EG with the Bubs cross dresser duals. If the passenger bolt holding the left passenger floorboard is torqued correctly you will not get it off with a ball-end. You shouldn't have to remove the left exhaust, just loosen it. Still a pain in the butt.
I got so sick of it I removed the passenger floorboards and replaced them with pegs, like the Street glide. Now I can get the derby cover off without messing with the exhaust.
I have an '07 Electraglide. At first I always removed the passenger floorboard to get to the T-27 torx screw on the derby cover near the passenger floorboard, but then I found that all I had to do was loosen the bolt on the mount for the floorboard to the point I could swing the floorboard out of the way to get to that last derby cover torx screw.
