Considering the $$ I've spent there this year, not even a freak'n break. 90 minutes to swap a tire??? Should I be pissed??? Only had 9000k on the tires that still looked new, they said they wouldn't plug the hole that's directly on the tread, so here's your new $260+ tire!

Just replaced my front...
Tire = $130.00
Tube = $15.00
Install = $20.00

$485 to replace a tire isn't that expensive, if you are a Plastic Suregeon, Wall Street Broker, Lawyer, CEO etc....... Time is valuable for those folks. They can just send Pedro down to the dealer with the bike and it'll be ready to go when they have a day off.

For us commoners, we need to remove our own wheels and either pay for the mount and balance or do it ourselves. The tools, jack, and service manuals can be paid for fairly quickly after a few projects.

That's ridiculous. With the economy the way it is and dealers struggling they should get the picture that we're tired of being ripped off. The more greedy they get the less likely they are of getting our business.

I'd be fine with paying the dealer a little more than an Indy charges to support the dealer but but when I have to bend over and don't even get a kiss forget about it. Dealers should even get better pricing for tires and such than an Indy from volume sales and they could pass some of the savings along. If they keep trying to hit us with their greed there will be more dealers closing.

That works out to about 436 usd at todays exchange rate. I just had by back tire replaced at my local shop dealership here in Calgary and it was 233 cdn. They did a great job. Remember that these dealerships are in buisness to make money and if we do not support them they will be gone when we really need them. BTW the dealership here was not the most expensive or the cheapest. They were almost the cheapest so I supported them.

Thats reasonable if the new tire had raised gold lettering...

I think you got charged a premium for being a walk in...

My local dealer it's 170 for the tire and 2 hrs to r&r or 1/2 hr with wheel off

My Dealer here quoted me about $315 out the door for a new rear tire mount/balance on my '09 Road King (wide white wall).

That happened to me Friday night. But I made it home before the rear tire went completly flat. I was able to pull the wheel and took it to a small ma nd pop shop. $165 for the tire and $25 for the mounting. I had 950 miles on that tire. The bike is only 1 month old.

I've done now four complete tire and wheel changes myself, including bearing installs, dismounting, re-mounting and balancing tires. I have a manual tire changer and one of George's bearing tools and I wish it would only take me 90 minutes to change a bagger tire. But my time is free and I enjoy the work (except working with those damn tire irons).

I got away from tubed tires, though. As much as I like the look of laced wheels (on a bagger you can hardly see 'em anyhow), you're dead in the water when you get a flat on the road.

What's the HOG tow policy? Are they obligated to tow you to the nearest dealer or can you redirect them somewhere friendlier to your wallet?

The tires on the 09's are different than earlier tires. They are harder in the center and softer on sides. Checked the internet and they are going for over $200 each. Of course a less expensive tire will fit but if they used the OEM replacement tire price is not that for off for the tire.

Anyone that has changed a rear tire knows that and hour and half is way to long.
