Starter Proplems/kickback?
I did a 24t comp sprocket and since my starter has progressively been getting worse? It has been kicking back and sort of grinding?
I have compression releases and it is the same either closed or open? I have checked all connections and battery tender always plugged in?
Doesn't want to stay engaged?

My '07 has been doing the same thing. Tried retarding the ignition timing to no avail. Dealer says theyhave beebn seeing more of this. MoCo told them to check the starter bolts for excessive powder coating or something. Didn't help mine. It will even blow oil smoke back out thru the intake. I NEED HELP TOO!

The starter drives the clutch hub which has a large sprocket, the compensater has a smaller sprocket. Changing the compensater to a smaller sprocket increases the mechanical advantage of the motor. It also increases the mechanical advantage the motor has over the stock starter. Basically you decreased the ratio that the starter had over the engine. The best cure (if everything is aligned properly) is to go to a bigger starter. Hope this helps.
