Don't listen to the dealer. Use synthetics if you want. Thousands of us do without issue. About the only arguement you will get on this board is which brand. You will rarely hear an argument to stay with conventional fluids. Synthetics are better in everyway.
I am not trying to put words in anyones mouth here, but if you live in an extremelly hot part of the country, we would all be well advised to use a "gear oil" in the transmission. Gear oil is heavier and is specifically designed for use in gear boxes. Besides having other additives in it gear oil has a different shear factor than regular synthetics do. Many people do use a synthetic in their gear boxes, but it is a synthetic gear oil. 75-90 wt. is very popular with some even using 75-140 if they feel they are in an extreme environment.
Back about 3 months ago I noticed some oil seepage, (not dripping) but some oil around the where the shifting rod arm goes into the tranny, and I took it in the dealership. They kept my bike for a few days and said that there was no drip just a little seepage, if it continued just bring it back in that maybe the seal would set itself. After wiping it down real good 3 months ago. I looked at it today and it still looks like it is seeping because you can see the (wet look) oil round the gear shifter arm that connects into the tranny, never the less again there is no drip just seepage. I paid a lot for this bike a love it to death but should I take it back in a tell them I want the seal replaced or should I stop worrying about it so much. Has anyone else had this problem?
The shift shaft seal is a single lip seal with no skirt spring and are VERY prone to leaking when running thin synthetic motor oil in a trans that should have gear oil in it. My son is a teck and has changed hundreds of shift shaft seals on bikes running Syn3 in the trans.

You might try something simple: drain the synthetic oil from the tranny and replace with Redline Heavy Shockproof oil. Oh, and if it still leaks, the pretty color will make it more obvious.
