I just had my 1k service done. I told the dealer to use synthetic; however, he advised me not to use it in the tranny.
This is just one more case of dealer techs proving that they are clueless hacks. Synthetic gear oil, Redline or Amsoil for instance, is superior in every way to petroleum based gear lubes in trannies. Whoever told you that is an idiot!
