I was surprised to read in my 2009 Road Glide's owners manual that HD does not recommend using the cigarette lighter as a power outlet site. I was hoping to run my heated vest or charge my ipod, etc with this lighter. Any thoughts from the collective wisdom here?
I have an 07 and run both my heated gear as well as charge my ipod from the cigarette lighter with no issues. The one recommendation I can make is make sure you put some felt on the back of your thermostat or switch to the heated gear because if it rest on your gas tank it will rub and leave marks. Trust me I know from experiance.

Yes and the manual also says you shouldn't pull a trailer with a motorcycle either...
A logical reason to me, and seeing we both get the same manual for touring models, is that an adapter plugged into a batwing fairing could interfere with the steering albeit that would not hold true with your RG sharknose fairing.
Speaking of the Cig Lighter...I was hooking up my hidden antenna and the ground wire touched the back of the lighter and sparked. Now the lighter doesn't work. I'm assuming I blew a fuse. Any idea where I can locate it to replace? Yeah, I know, why was the power on in the first place. I had to have the radio on to determine where best to mount the antenna.

The owners manual with show the location of the fuse box on the bike and what each fuse protects.
