In SoCal around N.Hollywood I used to do it all the time, during rush hour not much moves there and most folks didn't seem to mind. Here in Metro New York it isn't legal and people let you know it, some squeeze the lane when they see you coming, tough to do in tight traffic, tougher with 35" Wild 1 Chubby Bars
I'm wondering how feasible lane-splitting with something like the Road King would be. Does anyone here live in California and lane-split with any HD tourer?
split lanes all the time03 R K classic hard bags & 18 in. apes I know own a 08 ultra classic & spilt lanes if it dont feel right kick back and go with the flow
I want to give the four wheel drivers as much room as possible.
I don't split lanes because I'm in a hurry. I do it because I don't fell like sitting in traffic having my leg get cooked by the exhaust and having my bike overheat.
I live in TX,I am not sure about lane splitting being legal, but there are times cruising down the highway in stop and go traffic I will slow down-take the sholder-find a tractor trailer stopped/about to go again and pull back in-----in front of him. They take alot more time taking off from a stop so it gives me more time to get back in the lane. I do always slow down before sholdering,on the left or right. Here in TX you can fry fast in stop & go.
I'm in So. Cal. and I do it all day long. I commute on the 23 between Moorpark and Thousand Oaks and especially in the morning, I just cruise between cars on the freeway. One time I had this old dude in a 4x4 squeeze me in on purpose. I saw his face mad ******* back at me in the mirror. I just cut behind him and went around the other side with my middle finger flying with true colors over my head! It wakes me up in the morning, kinda like coffee. Gets the adrenalin flowing
I'll split lanes only when traffic has stopped and there's no telling when it will go again, but not just to be first at a traffic light. I hate to split lanes but look at it as a necessary evil.
I was wondering.....As I said, I had seen it when I was out there (in CA). Do you have people that try to move over on you as they see you coming along in their mirrors? Do they throw cigarettes on you? Do they spit on you? I'm thinking, here in FL, cagers don't like it.....You are on your own here.
I have to split lanes on a daily basis.I have more drivers make room for for me than idiots tying to block. No trash thrown at me yet.
To the original poster. There is more room than you think most of the time.Sometimes I do have to slow down or stop because some drivers just drive to far right or left of the lane or dont use their rear veiw mirrors.
