You can take the bulb out, use a tester to find out which probe on the bottom of the bulb is for the running light, grind it down flat, put a small piece of black tape over the remaining probe, and put it back in. No running light and the blinker works just like always. That's what I did and it works great. If you ever want the running light back, just buy a new bulb.
Thanks for that!
Good god, I thought we all want our own bikes our own way, not like everyone else. It's not like I don't like lights, I just don't want those orange lights on ALL THE TIME. IMO, it just doesn't go with the look I'm shooting for.
I don't care if the turn signals in front are orange. As a matter of fact that's an easy fix, smoked lenses and an amber bulb. I just don't want the running lights on all the time, especially in ORANGE! If I put smoked lenses with a white bulb, I think that would look odd and basically asking for a ticket.
New to the forum... and how about this... I want to get rid of the bullets all together, however I want to add turn signals back. My ideas are custom flush mount in the fairing, or the Cycle Vison Tech Trim turn signal bar.
I have a lot of their lights and the Plasma Rods on my saddlebags. They add aother level of lighting to the back. I also have their LED Tourpack replacements and it is real bright when I hit the brakes;
With my ride having all stock lamps, I was wondering the other day if the rear lamp assemblies will install on the front pedestals? That would place a one wire lamp on the front signals and I would still have the OE lamps if needed. I have already gone the smoked lenses and trim ring route but I also do not care for the amber always on front signals.
Sorry, but cars don't see us as we are, now you want to remove more lights?
With all due respect, just like you have your opinion about removing lights, I'm of the opinion that a lot of lights on a bike looks GAY! Especially adding MORE lights to the bike. All those colored accent lights and what not just look plain dumb to me and I live in SoCal where ALOT of people are doing that.
I don't have time to worry about whether a cager sees me or not. If it's time for me to go, then so be it. I seriously doubt adding more lights will change that.
One more thing, I only removed the running lights. I still have the headlight and passing lamps so if the cager can't see all that, what difference are the running lights going to make?
Lastly, my bike looks 1000X better without those ugly orange lights on all the damn time.

My comments weren't directed at you, but at the new guy above my most recent post.
Since I can't see the lights on all the time, I could give a crap what they look like. And, I really don't care what anybody else thinks my bike looks like, anyway.
Chicago Spike, the new guy here. To each his own.... some of us like a clean uncluttered look. I don't like lights, it makes your bike look like a circus wagon, same with flags.
BTW - I see in your profile picture you don't wear a helmet, yet you are worried about getting hit by a cager... flawed logic IMHO, Bro'.

Ride hard.
I gave a link to neat low profile light bars for you that stick on rather than flush mount? They can be used as running or running/stop or runnig/turn, iosn't that what you were looking for? plus a couplon code to save you money?
As for the helmet, yep I was flawwed 9 years ago when that picture was snapped. I now have a 4 year old at home that likes to ask me "Helmet daddy??" So for the past 3 years I wear a helmet every time I'm on the bike.
